LEARN TO... VIBRATION TRAINING

What is it?

Vibration training causes small muscle contractions as a standing platform rapidly oscillates up and down only a few millimetres. The speed of the vibrations of the platform determines how fast the contractions corrections of your muscles change from side to side.

With whole-body vibration, you stand, sit or lie on a machine with a vibrating platform. As the machine vibrates, it transmits energy to your body, forcing your muscles to contract and relax dozens of times each second.

Who is it for?

Anyone who takes part in sports and fitness. However vibration training may also have a role beyond sports and fitness. Some research shows that whole-body vibration, when performed correctly and under appropriate supervision when needed, can:

  • Help to reduce back pain.
  • Help to improve strength and balance in older adults.
  • Help to Reduce bone loss.
  • Help to increase metabolism.
